Five Steps to Put Conference Or Workshop Ideas Into Action

Conferences and workshops are a great source of new information, inspiration and ideas which can transform your business and your life.   But what often happens is we come back with a bag full of stuff and we have little or no time to re-read, re-coup and integrate what we just learned!

Here are some practical tips you can use, so you don't lose that inspiration and can start applying new ideas right away:

1.  Highlight Your Notes  After you take notes from a workshop, go back later that day and quickly highlight the key points or themes you want to remember and work with.  This will give you an easy outline of the important points.

2.  Pick Three Key Ideas or Initiatives  Within a week after the workshop, go back and review your notes and the key points you highlighted.  Pick just three key points you want to focus on.  By narrowing down to three, you are more likely to take action on them.

Take a moment to think about them and how you might put the ideas into action.  If it's a new concept, try applying it to a specific business or life situation you are experiencing.

Another way to reinforce a new idea is to tell someone else about it.  Sharing ideas with others not only develops the idea in your own mind, but provides the opportunity to expand the idea.

3.  Follow up with New Contacts  If you come back with a pile of business cards, make sure to note on the back those you want to follow up with and on what topic.  It's important to follow up with them within a couple of weeks.

4.  Take Action  Take action and follow through.  Make sure to put things on the calendar when you have goals and actions to take.

5.  Review in Three Months  Be systematic.  Check back in three months and see where you are.  Review, revise and revitalize your plans!

Don't miss the opportunity to put new ideas into action.  With these five steps you can integrate new ideas you learned at a workshop or conference into your life or work.
