Do You Need Help Writing Kids Books?

When you are writing a children's book you don't have to worry about illustrating it. When your book gets published, the publishing house will hire in house illustrators to design the pictures.

This is good and this is bad. It's good because that is one aspect of writing the book that you don't have to think about but it is also bad because if you were planning on writing a picture book you are going to have a hard time.

When you submit a manuscript to a publisher it has to have some substance. If you turn in your manuscript for a ten-page book with only ten sentences they are not going to give it much attention. A lot of the picture books you see on the market are hired out. Publishing companies have their own set of employee's that they contract to write certain types of books.

There are many publishing houses out there. Start by looking at random kid's books that are similar to the one you wrote. Each publishing house has a personal preference as to what they look for in a book. Look the companies up and see if they are accepting submissions at this time. Most of the companies will have open submissions at different times throughout the year.

You are going to want to mail them in a manuscript. A lot of the companies do not accept manuscripts over the Internet. You do not need to copy write your book before you send it in. A book publisher will not steal your work. The consequences to them would be very bad.
